NEW Leadership New Jersey is a bi-partisan, residential program to educate college women about the political process.
NEW Leadership™ New Jersey is a nonpartisan program developed by the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP) that educates and inspires college women to make the world a better place by becoming actively engaged in the civic life of their state and nation. During the six-day residential institute students interact with women leaders with a wide range of backgrounds, connect with like-minded peers, and practice leadership skills such as public speaking, networking and advocacy.
NEW Leadership™ NJ is scheduled for June 7-12, 2018 at the Eagleton Institute of Politics here at Rutgers. Participants are selected through a competitive application process. Applicants are required to identify a faculty or staff member on their campus who will approve their application and assist them in finding a sponsor to cover the $500 program fee (see below).
NEW Leadership™ has a proven track record; our alumnae have gone on to run for public office and work with advocacy organizations, on local and national campaigns, and even on Capitol Hill.
During the NEW Leadership you will:
- Meet with successful women leaders
- Participate in hands-on skills building workshops
- Learn how be an effective advocate for issues you care about
- Meet women who share your commitment to making a difference
The Campus Center and Division of Student Affairs will once again sponsor up to two (2) students who apply and are admitted and accepted into the program.
The application deadline is extended to April 1, 2018
